Your trust is very important to us. This notice explains Southern Nevada
Water Authority's use of cookies on this Internet site.
What is a cookie?
A cookie allows us to customize Web pages. It is a piece of information
generated by a Web server (the remote computer that hosts a website)
and stored on your local computer.
For example, cookies are used when
you browse through a virtual shopping mall and add items to your "shopping
cart." The cookie keeps track of the items you are going to purchase.
Essentially, cookies make use of client-specific information transmitted
by the Web server onto the client's computer so that the information
might be available for later access by itself or affiliated servers.
How do cookies work?
A cookie is a piece of text that a Web server can store on a user's hard disk. Cookies allow a website to store information on a user's machine for later retrieval in order to provide capabilities that make the Web much easier to navigate.
For example, a cookie is
stored on your computer when you request or consent to one of our
services. Your Web browser receives a cookie and stores it in a special
file called a cookie list. The information (in this case, your consent)
is formatted by our Web server, transmitted to your Web browser and
then saved on your computer.
Your browser will send the cookie containing your information
to our server for processing. The Web server will then customize the
page for you according to the contents of that cookie and give the
information you requested.
What control do I have?
You may disable the cookies in your Web browser by changing the
settings and/or preferences in your browser, but this may impair the
functionality of this and other websites you visit.
You may also
set your browser to notify you and get your consent before accepting
any cookies. Please refer to the help menu on your Web browser for
instructions on how to change these settings.
